n8n Consulting & Implementation Services

Expert n8n automation from discovery to production. Self-hosted or cloud, simple integrations to complex AI workflows.

n8n consulting helps you implement and get value from n8n, the open-source workflow automation platform. I handle setup (self-hosted or cloud), design and build your workflows - from simple integrations through to AI-powered automations - and train your team to run them. Most implementations are live in production in four to six weeks.

Why n8n?

n8n is an open-source workflow automation platform that gives you control over your business processes rather than renting it. Unlike proprietary tools, n8n can be self-hosted - so sensitive data never leaves your infrastructure, and cost stops scaling with every task you run. It is not always the right answer: see the n8n vs Zapier vs Make comparison for an honest read on when it is not.

  • Self-hosted or cloud: keep sensitive data in-house, or use n8n's cloud service
  • No per-task bill: self-hosted, cost tracks the server rather than the number of runs
  • Advanced logic: complex branching, loops and conditional execution
  • Custom code: JavaScript and Python execution where the built-in nodes run out
  • Hundreds of integrations: the apps you already run, plus any REST API via a generic HTTP node
  • AI-ready: models are first-class building blocks, so document understanding, classification and generation are ordinary workflow steps

What I do with n8n

1. Implementation and setup

I handle the complete setup of n8n, whether self-hosted on your infrastructure or cloud-based: server configuration, security hardening, SSL, database configuration, backups and user management.

2. Workflow design and development

I design and build workflows around your actual process - from simple two-app integrations to multi-step automations with AI at the judgement steps. Built to be maintainable, with validation, error handling and monitoring rather than a happy path.

3. Migration from Zapier or Make

Moving off Zapier, Make (formerly Integromat) or another platform? I handle the migration end to end, recreating your workflows in n8n and tidying up what was working around the old tool's limits. Where volume is high, the saving usually pays for the move.

4. AI-powered automations

AI inside your n8n workflows using OpenAI, Claude or another model: document processing, classification, routing and generation. The skeleton stays deterministic and the model is called only at the steps that need judgement - the reasoning is in AI agents vs simple automation.

5. Training and support

I train your team to build and maintain workflows independently - n8n basics, house conventions, debugging and the advanced techniques worth knowing. Ongoing support packages are available, but the aim is that you need them rarely.

Common n8n use cases

  • CRM automation and data synchronisation (HubSpot, Salesforce)
  • Customer support automation (Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk)
  • Marketing automation (email campaigns, lead nurturing)
  • E-commerce order processing and inventory management
  • Financial data aggregation and reporting
  • HR onboarding and employee lifecycle management
  • Document processing with AI and OCR
  • Social media monitoring and automated responses
  • Data backup and synchronisation across systems
  • Webhook-based real-time integrations

n8n vs Zapier: when to choose n8n

Zapier is excellent for simple automations and will have you live this afternoon. n8n earns its place when you need:

  • Data control: sensitive data that can't leave your infrastructure
  • Cost efficiency: high-volume workflows, where a per-task bill rises with your own success
  • Complex logic: advanced branching, loops and data transformation
  • Custom integrations: APIs or systems with no off-the-shelf connector
  • Full control: custom code, database access, advanced debugging
  • Compliance: GDPR, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001 or other regulatory requirements

How an n8n project runs

1. Discovery and planning (1-2 weeks)

I map your current processes with the people who run them, find the automation worth doing first, and design the n8n architecture around it.

2. Infrastructure setup (3-5 days)

Install and configure n8n on your chosen platform, with proper security, monitoring and backups.

3. Workflow development (2-3 weeks)

Build, test and refine the workflows, with the error handling, validation and monitoring that keep them still working a year later.

4. Training and handover (1 week)

Training for your team, documentation, and whatever ongoing support you actually want. Clean exit, no dependency.

Why Choose Goldseam for n8n?

  • One senior practitioner: you get me, building on n8n daily - no junior handed the ticket
  • End to end: from the server it runs on to the AI steps inside the workflow
  • Security-first: proper authentication, encryption and access control, self-hosted where the data demands it
  • Knowledge transfer: your team owns and extends what I build
  • Fast delivery: production-ready workflows in weeks, not months
  • Vendor-neutral: 20 years delivering automation across 8+ industries, and no reseller margin to protect - if Zapier is the right answer, I will say so

Frequently asked questions

What is n8n?

n8n is an open-source workflow automation platform that connects your apps and automates the steps between them. Unlike proprietary tools such as Zapier, n8n can be self-hosted, so your data never leaves your own infrastructure and cost does not scale with every task you run.

Why choose n8n over Zapier?

n8n offers self-hosting for data control, no per-task execution bill, advanced logic and branching, custom code, and significantly lower cost at scale. Zapier is still the better choice for simple, low-volume automations where setup speed matters most - n8n earns its keep once volume, data sensitivity, complexity or AI enter the picture.

How long does n8n implementation take?

Most n8n implementations are live in production in four to six weeks, from first discovery call to deployment. I follow a phased approach: understanding your processes (1-2 weeks), designing the workflows (1 week), implementation and testing (2-3 weeks), then training your team to run them.

Do you provide ongoing n8n support?

Yes. Ongoing support covers workflow monitoring, maintenance, tuning and team training. Documentation and knowledge transfer are part of every build, so the default is that your team manages the workflows independently and calls on me for the harder changes.
